Bread and Tulips (Pane e tulipani)

We watched the movie Bread and Tulips on DVD this afternoon. It was delightful to watch Rosalba, the unappreciated housewife, rediscover the joy of life.

Bread and Tulips is one of my favorite movies. It's wonderful all around, but what really put the icing on the cake for me was that the lead actress did her own accordion playing, without requiring a stunt musician. Did you notice? I especially liked the waltz she played. I transcribed it after I saw the movie and taught it to an accordion playing friend of mine, who later played it at a dance for me. Great dance tune.
