海的少女

昨晚看仲夏夜之夢時聽到sea-maid一詞，和mermaid同樣是美人魚。我突然想到，海的法文是mer，那麼mermaid的mer應該也是海的意思，maid是maiden，也就是少女，mermaid就是海的少女啦！

It's from Old English "mere", or Latin "mare". Probably similar origin to French "mer"
